We will explore:

Seminar 1, Tuesday 13 April 2027 10am-1pm:

The relationship between human and animal welfare across the life course, drawing on historical, intersectional, sociocultural, and theoretical perspectives on the role of companion animals.

Seminar 2, Tuesday 11 May 2027 10am-1pm:

The typology of pet loss, grief and caregiver burden and its impact on humans and best practices in assessing and supporting the impact of animal-related grief.

Seminar 3, Tuesday 15 June 2027 10am-1pm:

The link between the abuse of animals and people, sociocultural perspectives on animal abuse and its impact on children, young people and adults and best practices in safety planning.

Seminar 4, Tuesday 13 July 2027 10am-1pm:

Animal welfare frameworks and legislation to support ethical decision-making and professional responsibility, promoting interdisciplinary working across human services, veterinary, and animal welfare.

Case studies will support learning, and you will be provided with useful links to articles, resources, and relevant local and national organisations.
