Description

You should only complete this form if you are applying for the CES course as an external candidate, i.e., not employed directly by the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Once you have booked a place here, you will then need to register on the IRIS Learning course page to complete your booking and confirm your place (details will be sent to you separately once you have booked via email).

The IRIS site will provide the pre-course preparation and reading which will be required.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

 

Course details:

This one-day course allows Clinical and Education supervisors to be accredited as trainers, as required by the GMC (GMC Recognising and Approving trainers: the implementation Plan 2012).

This course aligns completely with the GMC standards for trainers and the seven domains in ‘A framework for the professional development of postgraduate medical supervisors’ developed by the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME).

This is an approved Health Education England Kent, Surrey and Sussex Clinical and Education Supervisor Training Course.

 

Background: The GMC (GMC Recognising and Approving trainers: the implementation Plan 2012) requires all clinical and educational supervisors to be accredited as trainers by their local Educational provider (LEP). The criteria for accreditation is based on the GMC standards for trainers as set out in The Trainee Doctor, the 2009 edition of Tomorrow’s doctors and the seven domains in ‘A framework for the professional development of postgraduate medical supervisors’ developed by the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME). This course aligns completely with the above standards and the seven domains.

Speakers: This course uses the expertise of members of the Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS) Division of Medical Education, Brighton & Sussex University Hospital (BSUH), HEKSS Heads of Schools and NHS clinical staff who have completed an MA in Medical Education across the KSS region and other invited speakers.

Who should attend: All clinical and education supervisors seeking accreditation as trainers.

BSMS Teaching Support in a Digital Age.

This one-day course is for those involved in teaching Brighton and Sussex Medical School students and will include understanding the BSMS curriculum and structure, theories of teaching and learning and how to evaluate your teaching. The course involves engagement in discussions and workshops.

This course is planned to be run in person on campus; however, it will be moved online if necessary [September/June Dates].

Please note that parking spaces are limited. If you can travel by public transport, the nearest train station is Falmer, which is a 5 minute walk from campus.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided to those attending the In-Person dates.
