This practical, evidence-based workshop for parents draws on the core principles of the Fearless Families course, which has been found to be effective at reducing child anxiety in randomized controlled trials involving almost 2000 families. The workshop helps parents understand how anxiety in themselves or in their child can unintentionally shape family patterns. It offers simple, practical strategies for building children’s confidence, resilience, and independence.

In this whistle-stop tour of the Fearless Families course, you will learn the nuts and bolts of what causes anxiety in children, how to gently encourage independence and bravery, how to manage difficult behaviour in ways that builds resilience, how to get more ‘good stress’ into your children’s lives, and what to do if you yourself struggle with anxiety.

Designed to be warm, non-judgemental, and highly practical, the session translates psychological science into everyday parenting tools that families can apply immediately. The approach is suitable both for parents concerned about anxiety (in themselves or their child) and for those simply wanting to support emotional wellbeing and confidence in their children.

We will email you the access link to this workshop, and instructions on how to join, few days before the workshop scheduled date. All attendees will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the workshop.

If you are booking for multiple attendees, or on behalf of someone else, please email us at socialchangehub@sussex.ac.uk to let us know the names of the attendees.
