A guided walk around one of England's most attractive county towns reveals a dramatic history, from the ruins of the twelfth century castle and the Tudor Anne of Cleves house to th modern day Crown Court, where many famous murder trials have taken place. Hear about the Bonfire Boys, the burning at the stake in the 16th century, the medieval merchants, radical Tom Paine, novelist Virginia Woolf and other notable residents. We walk along the passages and the narrow alleywayas ('twittens'), see the beautiful gardens and wind our way down to the river, with lots of stops along the way.
