A half day workshop covering interview skills for research.
Interviewing is one of the most important data gathering methods in both quantitative and qualitative research. It is essential not to confuse “good social skills” with “good professional interview skills”. This workshop aims to help you develop your skills in interviewing – in particular for using in-depth interviews. It is mainly practical allowing participants to role-play different aspect of interviews, thus gaining experience of interview techniques and handling difficult situations in a safe environment. You may take an audio-recorder with you to record your own performance.
Each year the Department of Medical Education in Brighton and Sussex Medical School run research skills workshops for those undertaking research at Masters level (or above). Staff and post-graduate students from Sussex University and Brighton University are also welcome to attend. These workshops cost £50 to attend if you aren’t an enrolled DME student.
The workshop will run 09:30 – 13:00 on Wednesday 21 February 2018.
This workshop can be taken in combination with the Focus Groups Workshop running in the afternoon of the same day.
Workshops will be held at Brighton University, Falmer Campus.
